Helen is a Public Health Expert, and an advocate for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH). She holds a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) and a BSc. in Applied Biochemistry. Helen has over 11 years’ experience and extensive expertise in managing and implementing community-based interventions in Family Planning, HIV, Malaria in Pregnancy, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health. For Helen, losing her biological mother to maternal mortality drives her passion for fighting against preventable deaths among women. As a member of the MNCH Core Technical Committee and the Family Planning Advocacy Working Group, both of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, she engages policy makers and stakeholders to implement policies and programs aimed at preventing maternal mortality. She is a multi-award winner, a Fellow of the African Regional Sexuality Resource Centre, a nominee for the Young Family Planning Leader award, and a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow.
