2020 – 7th Annual Maternal Health Lecture report

CWHAD holds her Annual Maternal Health Lecture every September which marks the beginning of a new Program year. This project is a part of our strategic objective to empower women and young people to make informed reproductive health choices, under our Safe Motherhood program.

This year, we marked the 6th Annual Maternal health Lecture with the theme ‘Promoting Access to Family Planning Amidst COVID19 Pandemic”.

The event provided an opportunity to integrate Family Planning and COVID19 messages, as we joined the global public health community to commemorate the World Contraception Day.

The World Contraception Day commemoration provided us the opportunity to provide Family Planning Sensitization and Family Planning services to the women and young people in Bille/Nembe Waterfront, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State.

With the support of ARFH, Sayana Press, which is a self-injectable contraceptive was made available for immediate uptake during the event. We are delighted to share that more than 10 women of reproductive ages accessed this commodity, free of charge! Over 60 women and young people received accurate information about FP, while pregnant women and other women of reproductive age also received prenatal vitamins.

Children were not left out as the Rotary Club (district 9141) were on ground to deworm children. CWHAD also provided multivitamin supplements as part of the strategy to boost their immunity against COVID19.
